Statto Alert - West Ham success not sustainable
http://statsbomb.com/2015/09/are-west-ham-or-leicester-any-good/?

"The thirteen goals are a product of a mere twenty-two shots on target- 59%, which give or take is double the league average and a full 14% ahead of Leicester, who as we discovered moments ago are running extremely hot. West Ham are transcending heat with a rate this high."

"....the opposition are taking a ton of shots but only converting them at 7%, and the overall save percentage is a high 78%. It’s flowing right for West Ham at both ends. The problem being that these metrics have been shown not to sustain. West Ham’s underlying metrics have powered a freak run, will definitely decline and this is likely to be as good as it gets for them."

Honestly I don't think we will sustain this form. I'm just hoping we have enough points in the bag by then to relax and look forward to the move.

Well yes, I like to argue a point, that is true but I try not to bore the pants off of everyone based on one small pedantic point

Yeah I'm fine thanks and you?

Don't involve me, Pugwash, I just called him a boring cunt.

Because he's a boring cunt.

Boring cunt.

There, I did it again.

Re: Statto Alert - West Ham success not sustainable
Any extrapolations based on such a small sample of games are never going to mean anything.

Like most stats, If used properly by the club they can help find things to look for in real life but other than that they are a big harmless copy to fill twitter etc between games. Not sure why people get upset about it though.

Maths usually has a solution, that is pure guesswork

I was bored enough to follow that link, V.

I found it as interesting and useful as Lawrenson's BBC prediction league.

Anyone who takes a meaningful analysis from something like that, should be locked up

Surprised at you Alex.....on the other hand, no I'm not

And if anyone wants a good cry, try this extrapolation of what points clubs should be on based on their expected goals... we're 18th!
